Nose
Strawberry, Rich oak, cherry, wisps of plum, butterscotch and toffee with lemon zest. Like a delicious fruity pastry. The most complex nose I've experienced on a Bookers by far. Off the typical nutty profile associated with modern releases. Pleasant surprise.
Mouthfeel
Viscous, velvet butter smooth.
Palate
Viscous, velvet butter smooth. Brown sugar, creaminess, milk chocolate, nutmeg, eggnog, dark caramel. A rich and exquisite palate that would make you think this is much older than 7 years. From reading about the distilling process differences from back in the 80's to the modern practices this seems to check out on why there are such large differences.
Finish
the nuttiness note came out here but it was more like a peanut brittle not the typical peanut shell / roasted peanut note on newer releases. Still leaning heavily into sweeter notes. I am also not getting the typical baking spice notes I usually get including pepper etc. There is a very pleasant Kentucky hug, like a warmth rather than burn. Like sipping a hot drink in cold weather. Additionally I get some leather, dark fruit and cinnamon.
Verdict
The top of the Booker's mountain — a dusty that showcases the best of the Booker's profile and will have me chasing this dragon for life.
