Nose

Orange, tobacco, Vanilla, barrel char, burnt caramel, floral, dark fruit.

Mouthfeel

Small oiliness and only slightly viscous, more on the thin side.

Palate

Orange, Wild Turkey funk (I equate it to like a slight soy sauce flavor…? Umami), spices, wood. The first note is orange then gives way to a spicy umami flavor and a tinge of woodiness on the back end with slight pepper at the last second. The flavors hit hard and fast and then dissipate. Smash & Grab. For a thinner bourbon it's fairly complex and carries the flavors it exudes well.

Finish

The finish is medium. There's a heat that hits the roof of your mouth down to the sides of your tongue. There is no discernible Kentucky hug. Heat stays in the mouth and vanishes fairly quickly. It's a very pleasant heat, not jarring just accentuates the tasting experience. It carries the flavors all over your palate and ushers them out quickly as if saying 'we don't wanna overstay our welcome I think we got our message across.'

Verdict

A unique WT age-blend medley that plays the greatest hits well — fun and complex for what it is, but a bit thin; would shine with more viscosity, oak, and age.
