Nose
Vanilla, Caramel, Cinnamon, Turkey Funk, raspberry angel food cake with a hint of cream and some slight leather and oak with a slight ethanol tinge. This is a very pleasant and complex nose. Lots of good smells that you want to keep smelling.
Palate
spice, vanilla, caramel, oak, creaminess, slight bubble gum, butteriness, raspberry…this is insanely crushable and so sweet. This tastes like a very good fruity baked good. This hits the palette with an initial sweetness then immediately spice change. It envelopes your tongue with an excellent creamy texture. Helluva palate. An experience.
Finish
the finish is a pleasant Kentucky hug that grabs the top of your throat and hangs around just long enough to be enjoyable. All the flavors hit you fast and then leave all at once. Like an excellent house party or a family event. You enjoy it in the moment but once it dissipates you yearn for more.
Verdict
A balanced, refined private barrel that completely changed my opinion on Wild Turkey and Russell's — crushable, complex, and punching well above its 110 proof and $70 price.
